Amanda Fonner, 

Director of Bands

Ms. Fonner is currently in her first year as Director of Bands at Richardson North Junior High School. Prior to her appointment at Richardson North, she served as Assistant Director of Bands and Color Guard Director at Canyon High School (2015 – 2018) in New Braunfels, TX. From 2012 – 2015, Ms. Fonner was the Assistant Band Director and Woodwind Specialist at Frenship High School in Lubbock, TX.

Originally from the Dallas/Ft. Worth area, Ms. Fonner earned a Bachelor of Music degree in music education with a concentration in oboe from Texas Tech University (2012). She is currently pursuing a Master of Music Education degree through an extended summer program at Texas Tech University.

While attending Texas Tech University, she studied oboe and English horn with Professor Amy Anderson and performed extensively with the Texas Tech Symphonic Wind Ensemble and Symphony Orchestra. In addition, Ms. Fonner was a three-year member of the Texas Tech “Goin’ Band From Raiderland” where she played saxophone.

Ms. Fonner is a member of the Texas Music Educators Association as well as the Texas Bandmasters Association. During the summer months, Ms. Fonner works with the Texas Tech Band and Orchestra camps.

Sara Marnik,

 Assistant Director

Ms. Marnik is the assistant band director at Richardson North Junior High. Her responsibilities include directing the Symphonic Band, assisting with the Honors and Concert Bands, and teaching various beginner classes.

Ms. Marnik attended Texas Tech University where she graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Music in music education with a concentration in horn. While attending Texas Tech University, Ms. Marnik studied horn under Professor Christopher Smith. She also performed with the Symphonic and Concert Bands, TTU Horn Choir, Celtic Ensemble, and was a four-year member of the Goin’ Band from Raiderland.

Ms. Marnik is associated with Texas Music Educators Association, the International Horn Society, Tau Beta Sigma, and Pi Kappa Lambda. She remains connected to her alma mater by being on staff for the Texas Tech University Band and Orchestra Camp during the summer.
